Transportation Procedures - Safety First

We strongly encourage our drivers to park away from the school and walk. Street parking is located at the following areas:
  • Liberty St. between Mason Ave. and Elmwood Dr.
  • Liberty St. between Heffner St. and Pennsylvania Ave.
  • W. Heffner St. between Liberty St. and N. Franklin St.

Mornings at Smith School

In the event that you are unable to park and walk up to the school, there is a designated area in front of Smith School for student drop-off between the times of 8:10 - 8:30 a.m. This is a continuous drop off area only. We ask that you pull up, let your child out, and then pull forward to let the next person drop off their child. If your child needs assistance exiting the vehicle, we ask that you do not use the drop off zone in front of the school. Please use one of the designated parking areas listed above. There is no parking allowed anywhere within school zones during drop off time.

As students arrive at school, students in Kindergarten, First and Second grades will line up in front of the school. Students in Third and Fourth grades will line up at their respective entrances on Mason Ave. The students will enter the school at 8:20 a.m. In case of inclement weather, students will line up inside the school building.

Afternoons at Smith School

We appreciate your patience and understanding at dismissal time. Please know that safety is our first concern at all times. We recommend that you park and walk up the school to pick up your child. If you cannot park and walk, please pick up your child then leave in a timely manner to accommodate other parents.

All students that ride a bus home, will wait in bus alley until their bus arrives. There is no parking on Heffner St. within the school zone during dismissal times as this area is used for bus alley.

Reminder

There is no parking, stopping, or standing on Mason Ave.
