There a few changes you will notice at Conger for this school year regarding our school-wide Behavior Management System. As a part of a state mandate requiring all schools to implement a Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports system, we have been working to assess and realign our PBIS practices. We will continue to use the expectations set forth in our Conger Pledge to be Respectful, Responsible and Ready to Learn, however, some of the PBIS changes you will notice include:
· The use of the Leadership Ladder (replacing the previously used Color Wheel), which will allow all students the opportunity to move both up and down the ladder signifying positive behavior/learning choices as well as choices that need reflection and improvement.
· We will continue to recognize students daily for their leadership through our Pacer Pride Awards, but we will add in other recognitions/rewards for those students maintaining Green, Purple or Orange on the Leadership Ladder at various times during the school year.
· Students that have moved down the Leadership Ladder for behavior infractions will be given the opportunity that day to move back up for turning things around and making better choices.
· Behaviors needing reflection and improvement (Blue and Red) will still be communicated to you and positive changes in behaviors will be documented as well.
We are excited about the positive impacts these changes will have in our school. Below you will find a picture of the Leadership Ladder that will be used. Every student will start the day on Green. You will also notice posters hanging in multiple places at Conger, stating our expectations for different areas. These poster will remind students of the expectations in the hallway, restroom, cafeteria, office, playground and waiting in the bus line. You can see these expectations below:
