Delaware City Schools Strategic Planning
In 2008, more than 180 volunteers participated in a comprehensive strategic planning process for the Delaware City School District. Through the work of a strategic planning team and four action teams, dynamic action plans were put into place laying the groundwork for focused and intentional work in four key areas: student achievement, communication, facilities and community relationships.
With the plan’s expiration in 2012, district administrators and board of education members agreed the framework of the plan was still solid, but individual action plans needed revised to carry the district forward. In the spring of 2012 action teams were reconvened to review the progress and make updates to the existing action plans. Once again staff members, parents and community stakeholders spent many hours determining action steps that will move the district forward over the next three years in the four key areas.
Vision Statement: “The Delaware City Schools will promote a culture of excellence that engages and empowers students and staff to embrace the challenges of our global society. We will build on our traditions, respect our diversity and partner for a strong community.”
