personalized learning

Delaware City Schools is a dynamic, technology rich learning environment where teachers and students use technology to access, explore and use information in ways that engage students, help teachers and support learning. Students today have instant access to vast amounts of information and a global reach.  The technology and immediacy of access is transforming how students learn and interact with teachers.  One of our strategic plan goals is to create lifelong learners.  Our strategy to reach this goal is empowering students to take ownership of their learning. The Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program at Hayes High School makes this step in our plan possible.

Our plan is designed to develop students’ responsibility for managing their device and managing their learning as they move through Delaware City Schools. Each student having a device, allows our teachers to enhance personalized learning through blended learning.  Blended learning combines face-to-face techniques with online learning.  By doing this, we allow students to continue the learning outside of the classroom, developing the skills and habits of a lifelong learner.

    Our District Plan
    • Elementary students have access to district owned devices.

    • Sixth grade students will each have a device that remains at school.  Seventh and eighth grade students have the added responsibility of a district owned and managed device that they can take home.

    • High School students will bring their own device (BYOD). If your student does not have a device, the district will provide a loaner device.
