    Dempsey DLC Afterschool

Dempsey DLC is an afterschool program specially designed for middle schoolers. The program is focused on academic support, project-based learning, creative exploration, and safe, positive social opportunities.

Dempsey DLC is a program provided to students and families by the Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC).  The program provides opportunities for children who come from economically disadvantaged families and attend low-performing schools to receive academic support and afterschool opportunities at no cost to families.  The School Age Child Care (SACC) program was awarded a 5 year grant to provide this program for middle school students. As a 21st CCLC grant program, our activities are designed to:

    • Increase math and reading skills
    • Increase self-awareness
    • Build social-emotional skills
